Poolside Sloshing

28″ x 22″ Oil on canvas.
Corona del Mar, California.

The time right after the kids got out of the pool. Summer days when the water’s still moving and the sun dances on the edges. See it in person to dive in.

Woman with purple bubbles

24″ x 20″ Oil on canvas.

This is a composite of three women I dated in the 1990’s. The purple bubbles are little memory chambers for all of them. They’ll float away completely some day.

The Drifting Place

20″ x 24″ Oil on canvas. Corona del Mar, California.

A Jungian submersion. I often dream of flying above the beds I’ve visited. This one was in an Italian villa near Sienna. A flood of water in a dream indicates the uncontrollable, emotional nature of real life. To roll along with the tides and weightlessness of the ocean is to surrender to the seasons and struggles of a changing life.

Tablerock - Laguna Morning

9″ x 12″ Oil on canvas. South Laguna Beach, California.

Making a real place unreal is one of the joys of painting. When you capture something like this in simple colors and tones, the place and the moments never go away. During this particular time, the world was quite crazy, but being here was an escape. This particular beach is frequented by some of the most eccentric and dazzling artists in Southern California. To capture it from above is quite rare, because not many have access to these angles.

Boys on the Beach

9″ x 12″ Oil on canvas. Crescent Bay, Laguna Beach, California.

The surf makes the young ones move. The sky changes by the minute.

Woman Wondering

31″ x 31″ Oil on canvas.

The eyes on this follow you. Abstract from nude study.

Tools of the Counter

16″ x 20″ Oil on canvas.

Some of the necessities and implements called on during the days and nights of kitchen creation.

Balboa Turn

22″ x 28″ Oil on canvas. Balboa Island (small island), California.

The interior channel beckons right. The Pacific beckons left. The boats watch and bob. Late sunset night lighting warms the scene.

Mackerel for Two

20″ x 16″ Oil on canvas.

Basil, lemon and mackerel. Not sure who will eat these. The ingredients before the cooking.

The Bedroom

20″ x 20″ Oil on canvas.

A place of rest and play. Looks out onto a garden. The dreams have awakened and gone.

Art Oil Painting Third Beach, Corona del Mar, California

3rd Beach Corona del Mar

28″ x 22″ Oil on canvas.

I’m color blind but enjoy the trail of water that pushes through the tide pools. Beaches built of layers. Sky unassuming and simple.

Laguna Beach Patio with Heaters

10″ x 10″ Oil on board.

Waiting for the last sun colors. Heads up. Heads down. Glowing heat on cocktails and babble.

Leggy and Long

12″ x 24″ Oil on canvas.

It’s hot inside. Something’s cool outside. The window must be opened. But how? Oh, just pose instead.

Crystal Cove End of Day Burst

36″ x 24″ Oil on Canvas. Newport Beach, California.

Some days don’t want to end. This one pushed serious light out as the sun went down.

Bright Shuffled Bed Large

48″ x 36″ Oil on canvas.

Same haven. Different day. A place of rest and play. Looks out onto a garden. The dreams have awakened and gone.
